Evan's birthday is December 23rd. Because it's so close to Christmas we make an effort to make it his special day. He did have to go to school on his birthday this year, but luckily it was only half day. Greg told him that his birthday is awesome, because he'll never have to go to school or work the next day. He'll always be able to stay home and play with his toys.
Evan chose, as always, to go to McDonald's for dinner. They just can't pass up getting to go to a play place. We try every time to persuade them to choose something better, but they are pretty set in their ways. Caleb's starting to agree with us now, so we'll see what he chooses when his birthday rolls around.
All the boys together before Evan opened his presents.
He got his prized possession, a Spiderman skateboard with pads for safety, of course.
He also asked for an MP3 player. It cracks me up to see him walk around the house with it in his pocket and earphones in as he sings.
We are so happy to have Evan in our family. He is the most emotional of the boys, and we sometimes wonder if he makes up for us not having a girl. :) He is the most cuddly and often tells me that he loves me. Evan is mindful and concerned about all of us especially if we're sick. He was there when Nate choked on a grape and was very distraught. As I was trying to help Nate while on the phone with 911, I told him to go in the other room. He came out several times to check on Nate and I kept sending him back to the other room. Later he told me that each time he went away, he prayed that Nate would be okay. It amazed me to think that a 5 year old, in the middle of that frightening experience, thought about praying. He is a joy in our lives and we're very proud of him.

Here I am today catching up on blogs I haven't read... just saw this post. I forgot to tell you a bout 3 weeks ago in primary I did sharing time (now that I think of it, were you there, I am not sure any way in case you weren't.) I was asking what Jesus does for us (as it was about Jesus and the atonement and such) He raised his hand and said.. "I prayed and he helped my brother when he chocked on a grape." I loved his answer and it was so awesome to see such a little guy know and remember what Jesus had done for his brother. So cute!
