I'm really behind in blogging, so this was a long time ago...
There is a program at our elementary school called "Principal's Pride" where the teachers nominate one student in their class a month (I think) by something that they have accomplished or excelled in that sets them apart. Those students get to invite their family to lunch and while there, they are recognized and given a certificate by the principle.
Evan was nominated for his math and geometry skills while constructing a sailboat and winning first place in their sailboat races in class. He was so excited and loved having me, Nate and Blake there for lunch.
Evan's teacher, Miss Dalgleish, is a great teacher. She is really quirky and can easily offend parents by telling them exactly what she thinks about their child, or their parenting skills. She will do whatever she wants in class-in a good way-despite the rules (She had the class say a prayer for a fellow student that was going to have surgery the next day, etc.) She always has fun activities and celebrations for the kids when they finish learning about a specific thing...like the boat races. This last week they had a party where all of the kids brought blankets, flashlights, and wore old clothes because they had just finished learning about caves. They made caves (tents) with the blankets. Caleb also had Miss Dalgleish as a teacher and still claims that she is his favorite teacher EVER!
Congrats Evan! We're so proud of you!
