Wrestling 2011

Here are some random pictures of "the boys" first go at wrestling.

A little side info: Greg wrestled in high school, his dad (Grandpa Kitchen) REALLY likes wrestling, and several of his little brothers wrestled. Including one who won state. SO wrestling is kind-of the Kitchen family sport. Having said that, I have never seen Greg get so excited and involved (Not sure if that's the right word...maybe CRAZED works better.) in any other sport the boys have played. He was right down on the mat, yelling as loud as he could to yell louder than the dad of the opponent which then resulted in his voice giving out on him every time.

The tournaments were CRAZY!!! They were held at different high schools across the Salt Lake Valley and were out-of-control with crowds of people. They would call the wrestlers out by age group, but with our boys being so close in age we sometimes found two of our boys wrestling at the same time on opposite sides of the mats. We were stressed out every time.

On the flip side:
1- I loved that everything was indoors and I didn't have to freeze outside in the cold.
2- It was great that all three of my boys could do it together at the same time. Last year with all three of them on different sports teams at different times was WAY too busy.
3- Did I mention that I didn't have to sit outside in the cold???

Practice was at Copper Hills high school.

This was Nate's first match. He looks so cute in his little singlet. :)

The first time Caleb won a match.

The last tournament Evan won first place.

By the time the season was over, they were worn out. Caleb mentioned at that time that he never wants to wrestle again and Nate agreed. Evan LOVED it and I think will be the only one that will be excited to try it again.
